Design Aspect Our Collective

Our initial plan of our identity. We might need to change it because we felt that it didn't really suit the tone of voice of our collective.

STUDY TASK 6

Personal & Professional Practice - Creative Community? Haiku?

We raise awareness

One collaborative space,

Erase the stigma

Haiku exercise
Brainstorming words: 'creative' and 'positive'
  • Brainstorming helped sort the vision of our project and focus on our action plan. Thinking of our branding and identity might be a good first step to deciding who we are and what we have to offer.
  • Being decisive is crucial and effective as it got most of the planning sorted. Perhaps more research would also help provide a backbone to this project -especially when working with topics such as learning disabilities, it is good to be rather sensitive and knowledgable about this subject area.

STUDY TASK 7

Contact Report Progress - A response out of the five contacts

PIK Branch

Goods Dept store front & interior

I've finally gotten a response from one of the owners of Goods Department (a retail company). They specialize in importing and selling both local and niche fashion and streetwear. But they also have several restaurants which could be used as a space for collectives and art events. Fortunately he had given a rather detailed answer. It was a challenging task to simply reach out and email people.

I learned that it was enough to just be polite and be considerate of the other person. It was a hit or miss, some may reply, reply but is not available or not get a response at all. But it was a good opportunity to reach out and put myself out there.

Further response from the owner of Goods dept.

STUDY TASK 4

Copyright - Dun dun dunnnn *dramatic sound effect*

  • The things I create and claim my own would always be under copyright, however I am not well known in the creative industry hence people could have simply used my illustrations without crediting. Eg. A retail company had once claimed an illustration/design for their clothing line without crediting the illustrator. (Zara & H&M)
  • Drawing from photograph as reference (if it is not your own photograph): take in consideration that this is might be categorized as plagiarism (if it is pretty identical and used for profit).
  • Online sharing/sites: Applying copyright to websites and your work posted there. eg. Isabelle feliu: https://www.isabellefeliu.com/projects (people can't save her work from the website without breaching the copyright law)
  • Sharing work online: Referencing someone else's work, credit them.
  • distribution of work/selling: need to consider that when selling for commissions or under employment they have the right to own/reproduce but if its freelance or selling to a private client they do not have this right.

STUDY TASK 3

SWOT and PEST Analysis - continuation

STUDY TASK 3

SWOT ANALYSIS

Personal & Professional Practice - where does my practice lie?

Event Branding by Kastor and Pollux

  • At this point in my life I feel that I am still searching where my true interests lie. I am still exploring various fields in the creative industry. But I do know that I particularly enjoy highly collaborative work and projects.
  • As of late my practice have been leaning towards product and packaging, merchandising and perhaps branding. I do try to explore different practices and approaches to creating illustrations.
Poster designs (Manchester Art Gallery Brief)
- that can be turned into merchandises

Short animation/STING - something that I really enjoy and would do more
for future products. I think that with more people using social media and online
sites, it would suit the digital platform! Also it is interesting to see illustrations
that are animated.
